2015 Writing in Review

Total Number of Completed Stories: Completed: 3 Posted: 4

Total Word Count: (typed up) 8,460

Fandoms Written In: Skins and Carmilla

This year I wrote and posted:

wrote (entirely): now your heart is beating in my hand 1 & 2, miles from where you are

started: within the violet hour, and 7 untitled as of now pieces, all in my future verse

posted: now your heart is beating in my hand 1 & 2, miles from where you are, and Dean vs the Munchkins

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? I didn't really have a number in mind. Mostly I just wanted it to be more than last year, and it’s double, so. I’m content. My big writing goal for this year was to EDIT, and I hardcore revised… 11 stories.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? I didn't expect to write for Carmilla at all, or like it this much.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Hmm. Wedding fic, probably. It’s not done yet, though, so can it be my favorite of the year?

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? I don’t think I did.

From my past year of writing, what was....

A. My best story of this year: I don't know.

B. My most popular story of this year: now your heart is beating in my hand

C. Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: The majority of the writing I did this year only my girlfriend has seen, and in a tiny corner of a fandom that isn’t in it for domesticity anyways, so.

D. Most fun story to write: All of them? Can I do a top three? They aren’t titled, cause they aren’t finished. In no particular order: tank top warfare, in walks…, and wedding.

E. Most Unintentionally Telling Story: None.

Fic-writing goals for 2016: Let’s double that word count again! And I’d like to finish (well, all, ideally but) half of my WIPs. Lofty goal.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Too many options. Suppose it comes down to personal preference – church sex or vampire sex?

Most sweet story: Nightmares isn’t done yet, but I think that’ll probably end up being the sweetest out of everything started this year, if we’re talking just words already on a page, wedding.

“Holy crap that's wrong, even for you” story: Um, none. I didn’t write anything terribly out there this year.

Story that shifted my own perception of the characters: None.

Hardest story to write: None were hard to write, this year, but Kenzie’s birth was awful to try and revise, and I think I’m probably just scrapping it.

Biggest disappointment: The state of my WIP list.

Biggest surprise: Finding a new fandom.

Story I haven’t yet written, but intend to: I have three ideas from this year that I haven’t started yet.

Best/worst title? I’m pleased with all the titles I’ve assigned this year.

Best/worst summary? Both miles from where you are and now your heart is beating in my hand barely – no, they don’t really have summaries at all. They’re in a very enthusiastic fandom, tho, so it doesn’t seem to have mattered. I’m shit at summaries.

Best/worst first line? Best: "It is completely and entirely Mini's idea to have sex in a church." There's a runner up, but it needs context, so. The first line of Dean vs the Munchkins isn't bad but it isn't going to immediately grab your attention, either, so I guess that one?

Best/worst last line? I'm not going to do this one. I only had three stories that actually got their last lines in 2015, it's barely a choice.

Which TV shows did you start watching in 2015?
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Archer, Broadchurch, Carmilla, Fresh Off the Boat, Galavant, Grace and Frankie, Home Fires, Humans, iZombie, Master of None, Sense8, the 100, the Fall, the Librarians, the Musketeers, Leverage, Life Unexpected, renegadepress.com, Sons of Anarchy, Wicked City
Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2015?  Why?
Arrow, Fargo, How to Get Away with Murder, Penny Dreadful, Quantico, Shameless US, Sleepy Hollow, the Knick, the Man in the High Castle, Vikings. Simply, lack of time + ease of watching. I'm crossing off things that are on netflix or hulu first.
Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2016?
See above.
Which TV show impressed you least in 2015?
Well. Wicked City, probably. Seemed like they weren't sure how to go as dark as would be fitting for the plot. I stopped Game of Thrones, but it was letting me down before 2015.
Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2016 unless things significantly improve?
I could take or leave: Grace and Frankie, Master of None, the Librarians, and Wicked City.
Which TV shows do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
Last Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley. I'll follow Sarah Lancashire to the ends of the earth.
Your main fandom of the year? Carmilla or Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Your favourite film you watched this year? Oh, this is a hard one. This is going to be a list. In no particular order: Woman in Gold, Age of Ultron, Mad Max: Fury Road, Spy, Inside Out, Sicario, Trumbo, Freeheld, the Force Awakens. There's a few 2015 movies I want to see that I haven't yet that might make this list: Carol, Suffragette, Brooklyn, the Hateful Eight, the Revenant, the Danish Girl.
Your favourite book read this year? Wildthorn, by Jane Eagland. This year I mostly reread.
Your favourite TV show of the year? Daredevil.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year? Mostly, I was pleasantly surprised when I had low expectations this year, not the other way around. I'm alright focusing on that.
Your biggest squee moment of the year? When the talk of a Gilmore Girls reunion started.
The most missed of your old fandoms? None.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? None? This is a weird question. Go look at the shows I haven't started yet.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year? Gilmore Girls reunion, more Daredevil, Capt America: Civil War, Deadpool, the Boss, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (tentatively.) Oh, if Netflix really does a Series of Unfortunate Events series.
